I grew up with my brother, John, in downtown Toronto where I spent most of my life. My father, an advertising executive with McLaren Advertising, influenced my early career choice which started at Global Television at the exciting period of its inception. Working in the scheduling department, I was responsible for managing the time of 25 men and 3 studios.
Later, I began my second successful career in which I sold real estate in the center of Toronto for the next 15 years spanning the tumultuous decade of the 80’s when interest rates reached the budget-busting level of 18% and higher. Subsequently after rates subsided to more normal levels, I decided I wanted a weekend getaway. Collingwood seemed ideally suited: relatively easy access from the city, affordable and offering year-round activities satisfying a broad range of interests. Indeed, I enjoyed life here so much that I decided to make it my full-time residence, moving here in 2001 upon my retirement.
Years later, I recognized the excitement associated with the challenging rate of growth of this community and decided to re-activate my agent’s licence and join Clairwood Real Estate where I met Sherry and Emma. And, when they decided to form The Rioux Baker Team, I enthusiastically jumped on the band wagon. Their vision to provide each client with energetic, dedicated and professional sales and marketing services through a team of seasoned agents was exactly what I wanted to align myself with. Their integrity and vast local knowledge rounds out the package of services attractive to all our clients.
In addition to my professional life, I busy myself participating in lessons at The Bay School of Art, playing golf at Blue Mountain Golf & Country Club, listening to lectures offered by the Lifelong Learning Center, boating in our beautiful Georgian bay waters, and generally enjoying the interaction with the many friends I have in the community.
